Error 0x80042468 received when creating a single partition on a drive greater than 2.2TB during install of Windows

윈도우를 설치할때 2.2TB보다 큰 드라이브에 하나의 파티션을 생성할때 Error 0x80042468을 받는다.

When installing Windows to a drive greater than 2.2TB you receive Error 0x80042468.

2.2TB보다 큰 드라이브를 윈도우에 설치할때 Error0x80042468을 받는다.

This will occur if you install Windows 7 and manually try to create one partition using “Advanced Drive Options” during setup.

이 에러는 당신이 윈도우 7을 설치하고 설치하는 동안 수동으로 "향상된 드라이브 옵션"을 이용해 파티션 하나를 만들려고 할때 발생할 것이다.

This is by design with Windows 7 x86 and with Windows 7 x64 on a non-UEFI system.

이것은 non-UEFI 시스템인 윈도우 7 x86과 윈도우 7 x64에 의도적으로 

Note: The check for UEFI and GPT is not done during Setup in Advanced Format like it is done in Disk Management.

Resolution

해결책

Install will complete but you will not be able to access the drive beyond 2.2TB.

설치는 완료 될 것입니다. 하지만 2.2TB 이상의 드라이브에는 접근할 수 없을 것입니다.

If you install Windows 7 x64 on a system that supports UEFI you can partition the drive to use GUID Partition Table (GPT) and access all of the drive if the system is in UEFI mode.

만약 UEFI를 지원하는 윈도우 7 x64를 설치한다면, GUID Partition Table(GPT)를 사용하여 분할 할 수 있고 UEFI 모드에서도 모두 접근 가능합니다.

Important: The disk that you select must not contain any data. Back up the data, or move your data to another volume before performing operations in diskpart. 

중요사항: 선택한 디스크는 어떠한 데이터도 담고있어서는 안된다. diskaprt에서 작업을 수행하기 전에 데이터를 백업하고, 또는 데이터를 다른 volume으로 이동시키세요.

In order to Boot a UEFI enabled system the disk type should be changed to GPT using convert gpt command. Follow steps as below.

UEFI가 가능한 시스템으로 부팅하기위해서 disk type은 gpt 명령을 사용해 GPT로 바꿔야합니다.

1. Press Shift+F10, this brings a command window. At command prompt, run the Diskpart.exe (This starts the diskpart console. After the console is initialized, DISKPART> is displayed. The diskpart console is now ready for input commands.)

Shift+F10을 누르고, 이것은 커맨드 창을 가져올 것입니다. 명령 프롬프트에서, Diskpart.exe를 수행하세요. (이것은 diskpart 콘솔을 시작합니다. 콘솔이 초기화 된 후, DISKPART>가 보입니다. diskpart console은 명령을 입력받을 준비가 되었습니다.)

2. Under diskpart> prompt type “list disk”. (Locate the disk, in this case disk 0)

3. Type "Select disk 0" (This selects the disk that you want to convert to GPT.) 

Select disk 0을 치세요(이것은 GPT로 전환하고 싶은 디스크를 고르는 것입니다.)

4. Type "Convert GPT" (This command will convert drive to GPT.)

Convert GPT를 치세요(이 명령은 드라이브를 GPT로 전환할 것입니다.)

5. Just to make sure everything went fine type “list disk”. The converted disk should now have a asterix in the GPT column. (See example image below)

모든것이 잘 수행됐는지 확인하기 위해 list disk라고 입력하세요. 전환된 디스크는 GPT열에 별 표시가 있어야합니다.

6. Type exit and exit again. This should close the command window. 

exit를 치고 다시 exit를 치세요. 커맨드 창이 닫힐 것입니다.

Select the disk you have just converted and that should display as “Unallocated Space”. 

전환한 디스크를 선택하고 그 디스크는 Unallocated Space라고 표시될 것입니다.

The installation process should start and proceed as usual. After reboot the Windows 7 x64 should be installed on the GPT partitioned disk.

설치프로세스가 시작되고 평소와 같이 진행되어야합니다. 재부팅 후 윈도우 7 x64는 GPT로 파티션 된 환경에서 설치될 것입니다.
